Women in Blue | Amerika Blair

As someone who has lost several loved ones to cancer, I am honored to be a Woman in Blue for the month of March. This campaign curated by the Cancer Wellness Foundation is pivotal to our community, helping cancer patients. I reflect on my great-grandmother who was the matriarch of our family – she was resilient, compassionate, and feisty. In 2004, I was near her hospital bed when she transitioned. Cancer caused her to leave the Earth physically, but she rests in me. Similarly, the year prior, our great uncle transitioned due to cancer.
Grief doesn’t have an expiration date. Twenty years later, my family still feels the weight of these losses. That’s why the work of the Cancer Wellness Foundation is so vital. They step in where help is most needed, filling the gaps in care and support that make all the difference for patients and their families. Their mission depends on all of us.
I invite you to join the Women in Blue—to honor, to remember, and to uplift those still fighting. Your support fuels hope and hope is a powerful thing.
